Doing Dean's Homework 2008
We completed “Dean’s homework” assignment to increase public awareness of FIRST through multi-media coverage and personal contacts to encourage the community to attend FIRST events, and to make FIRST a mainstream part of our culture

Our Strategies to Increase Public Awareness:

 

Last year we wrote letters to our politicians to inform them about FIRST and to invite them to our WI Regional. We took it a step further this year and held an open house at our build site. We invited over 100 politicians, school board members, business and community leaders, and educators. We demonstrated FLL, Vex and FRC as well as special projects such as our charging station and fuel cell project. We followed up with an invitation to the WI Regional Event.

More Strategies:

·We have gained much media coverage including newspapers and online news. We have also been featured in many print materials including newsletters and fliers of the Mayor, Discovery World, Marquette, Rockwell, and NASA.

·One of our teammates was featured on The Morning Blend TV program on WTMJ Milwaukee in the past and is scheduled to appear again on  Thursday March 13th (the morning the WI Regional starts) between 9am and 10am to talk about robotics and to invite the community to this regional event.    http://www.themorningblend.com/NewsArticle/tabid/1474/xmid/19637/Default.aspx
 
·Created and distributed invitations to the WI Regional and issues a press release about our participation in this Regional  http://www.oakcreeknow.com/story/index.aspx?id=721001
 
·We maintain a website and have a presence on several others including the WI Entrepreneurs, several schools, and many of our sponsor’s.
 
·We have a video on You Tube  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3Ym-oIZsKw and                                                                        produced a promotional CD to highlight the FIRST Programs.
 
·We displayed posters advertising the WI Regional.
 
·Created and distributed fliers to invite elementary  school students from several schools to the WI Regional
 
·We do many, many demonstration in our community at schools, corporations, and events, as well as community service to integrate ourselves throughout the community.
